About The Hate and Ignorance of the Religious Right

Previous Entry The Hate and Ignorance of the Religious Right Nov. 11th, 2008 @ 10:44 pm Next Entry
Today not one but two copies of this horrible email came to my office from the far-too ironically-named "United States Justice Foundation" (info@conservativeactionalertsupdates.com), which is, according to their website (don't go there, BTW), a 501(c)(3), of all things! That would be like giving the Klan nonprofit status! They should more appropriately be classifed as a hate-group and be made to pay full taxes on all of their income.

Anyway, here's the vile thing:

Dear Friend,

THE LIBERALS ARE ALREADY AT IT -- TRYING TO STEAL CONSERVATIVE VICTORIES!

You read that right -- before Barack Obama is even sworn in as the next President, radical liberals are already trying to reverse the elections that we DID win!

You've probably heard about "Proposition 8" in California. That's the one that REVERSED the left-wing judicial activist judges on the State Supreme Court, who had single-handedly declared homosexual "marriage" to be a constitutional "right" in California!

This was AFTER the majority of VOTERS had already passed a referendum declaring that marriage could only be between one man and one woman! Once again, the liberal courts overruled the will of the people themselves...

...but this time, the people fought back!

A new referendum was put on the ballot in the recent election, which would actually amend the state constitution in favor of traditional marriage. That way, activist judges could no longer declare that such marriage "restrictions" were "unconstitutional" -- now, they would be part of the constitution!

Well, much to the shock (and dismay!) of the liberals and the radical homosexual activists, Proposition 8 passed!

The people have spoken -- Marriage is between one man and one woman.

So that's it, right?

WRONG.

It's only the beginning.

Now, "homosexual rights" advocates have already filed at least THREE lawsuits to overturn Proposition 8 -- and reverse the will of the people of California!

We MUST NOT let them win -- please help us DEFEAT them in the courts NOW:

[URL cut because I don't want them to get any donations because I've posted this here.]

I want you to know, the United States Justice Foundation is already in court fighting against these homosexual activists. In fact, after the liberal California Supreme Court issued its "decree" to legalize homosexual "marriage," we immediately filed suit to STOP local bureaucrats across the state from issuing "same-sex" marriage licenses.

Now, since the will of the people both before and after the passage of Proposition 8 was to oppose such unions, we're fighting to make sure that every single homosexual "marriage" that took place in these last months is declared to be NULL AND VOID.

You see, the text of Proposition 8 -- and I mean the whole text -- reads, "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." That's pretty clear to me -- and it ought to be clear to anyone else -- that any marriage that takes place, whether in the future or the past, which is not between a man and a woman, is simply not valid and not recognized. Period.

Simple, right?

Well, no -- not when the ACLU gets involved... and that's who we're up against now!

What they're arguing is that the pro-traditional marriage measure is an "illegal constitutional revision" -- which would mean that the votes of over FIVE MILLION people would be crumpled up and tossed in the trash by the state courts -- AGAIN!

These radical leftists are trying to do nothing less than subvert the will of the people!

We MUST NOT let them win -- please help us DEFEAT them in the courts NOW:

[URL cut again]

USJF is the ONLY group that has a suit going on right now that has the legal ability to invalidate all homosexual "marriage" licenses in the state. We've got a strong case, because it's not about whether the California Supreme Court violated the state constitution or the statutes -- it's all about whether the state of California must follow its own laws. Those laws require that the PEOPLE must have the right to review any new marriage license...

...But the bureaucrats said NO! They tried to ignore the law and force Californians to accept a pro-homosexual marriage license -- but we're fighting them!

WE CAN WIN THIS CASE -- IF WE HAVE THE RESOURCES TO FOLLOW IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH!

To do this, we need to raise at least $100,000 right away, to pay court fees, file legal briefs, cover the costs of a crack team of constitutional lawyers, and counter every legal roadblock that the ACLU is throwing at us!

The ACLU already has millions of dollars pouring in to cover the costs of their MASSIVE legal campaign against the majority of the people of California. We MUST NOT lose here -- because if we lose, the radical liberals won't stop here.

They didn't stop in Massachusetts when an activist court declared a "right" to same-sex "marriage" in that state.

They didn't stop in Connecticut when an activist court declared a "right" to same-sex "marriage" in that state.

They won't stop here... unless YOU AND I stop them.

In fact, the homosexual activists have made it very clear that if they win in California, they're going to FORCE the legalization of homosexual "marriage" in every single state!

THIS MEANS YOUR STATE, TOO!

It's up to us. We CAN win this, IF we take a strong stand in the courts against the liberal activists. But we need YOUR help to do that.

We MUST NOT let them win -- please help us DEFEAT them in the courts NOW:

[URL cut yet again.]

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Gary Kreep, Executive Director
United States Justice Foundation

P.S. The radical homosexual activists aren't just fighting us in the courts, by the way -- if you've seen the news the last few days, you know that they're rioting in the streets, terrorizing Christians, destroying their property, and verbally and physically assaulting them for their pro-marriage stand.

There are news accounts of continued threats towards Christians who are being threatened with burning down their houses and churches. There have also been threats of murder.

These are the kind of people we're up against. We MUST NOT let them take away the hard-fought victories we've won, just because they "own" a few left-wing activist judges.

PLEASE, make your best contribution right away by clicking below. Help us FIGHT BACK for traditional marriage.

Thank you!

[URL cut because these people are just determined to keep annoying me.]

I absolutely DETEST that constant repetition of "homosexual activitists", as if ONLY people who are gay could POSSIBLY be in favor of universal marriage rights; never mind that a major Christian denomination is running ads in gay and lesbian newspapers in California, standing in solidarity with those who were trying to defeat Proposition 8.

Being a person of faith is NOT synonymous with being anti-gay and/or against equal access to marriage for everyone. Gay-friendly clergy were the FIRST people to officiate at same-gender unions, in houses of worship! This BEGAN with people of faith! The fact that some unions, some marriages, that have been consecrated by clergy in houses of worship are being denied the legal recognition that other unions are granted for outdated and utterly random reasons is a gross violation of the separation of church and state; either recognize ALL religious marriages or NONE of them--make all marriage secular, none of them with anything to do with religion. Require everyone to have a document signed by a judge or justice of the peace and LET everyone who wants to marry do so. People can have purely ceremonial religious services to please themselves, if they choose, but leave the law out of that part of it and leave religion out of the legal part of it. The fact that people still want to shove their purely-religiously-based definition of marriage down the throats of everyone and deny some people their rights due ONLY to a religiously-based bigotry is a travesty in this day and age.

Wow! They misuse exclamation marks AND ALLCAPS even worse than I do!

It's sad that that kind of exaggeration, demonizing of opponents, and emotional buzz words actually works to raise money. I feel kind of left out - I'm a "radical homosexual activist" and I haven't yet threatened to burn down anything or murder anybody. Guess I'd better get with the program!

I'm beginning to think this is a spam troll or something, just because of all the caps.

If it's true, though... wow. Have people NOT heard of separation of Church and State?

You know... one of my classmates is pretty religious. I'm not sure what denomination. When another classmate said, "I know a lot of Christians would hate me because my Mom's gay," he said, "I'm religious, and I don't care." In the same way someone would say "I don't care" to someone who'd admitted they weren't a natural blond.

Why can't more people be like that?

Unfortunately, not a troll. I was getting really horrible, slanderous emails (slander toward Obama) all throughout the campaign. Again, they were being sent to churches because it's assumed that all religious people are as insane as they are.

I didn't think anything could possibly turn my stomach any worse today with the morning I have had. I saw your link for this post on Gay Agenda and this blows my freakin' mind. The whole thing is driving me crazy because this is not *just* California, this is the whole damn world in my opinion. This is what the community is about - standing together for the rights of ALL. I wear my rainbows proudly for every single one and I will continue to do so. I wish there was more that I could do, truly.

And I think that they don't ever expect the truth of how they speak/write of this to reach the public because they just assume that their vitriol is only going out to "friendly" people, but I felt that as many people as possible needed to see exactly what sort of hate they are spewing.

Just so you know, that's a phishing website. Might want to censor the link or take it down.

Re: Phising Website

Uh, no, the United Church of Christ isn't a phishing website. And the other "link" is just an email address. So someone would need to copy and paste the domain name for the email address into their browser to go there. I didn't want people to do that, which is why I didn't include a link to the site.

Just so everyone knows, this email is coming from a rather infamous *marketing* organization. Here's their whois info - the registrant, admin, and tech contact is the same:

I checked with the Pennsylvania Department of State, and there are two corresponding entities registered in the state. The first is Diener Consultants, Inc., which is at the address above. The second is Diener Consultants, LLC, which is located at 264 Little Creek Rd., Lancaster PA 17601. President's name is L. Philip (Phil) Sheldon for both companies. Mr. Sheldon should be a pretty well-known name from the Terri Schiavo days - he's the guy that collated all the names of conservative folks that donated to Schiavo's parents, and then turned around and sold that list for hundreds of dollars to whoever would pay. Historically, he's been all about enabling ultra-right wing spam, and it seems like nothing has changed.

Scumbag of the lowest order, if you ask me. For my part, I enabled a router rule on my mail server to dump the IP so his crap isn't costing me any bandwidth.
